The municipal councilors approved today with a majority the memorandum concluded between the Municipality of Ruse and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It envisages deepening the ties between the two institutions and joint participation in research projects, including those with European funding.
The cooperation agreement was signed in May in the BAS building by the mayor of Ruse, Pencho Milkov, and the vice-president of the academy, art.-cor. Stefan Hadzhitodorov.
"With the memorandum, we will deepen our interaction with the academic community in order to gain experience and expertise in solving the important issues for Ruse," the mayor said then.
The partnership between the local administration and the BAS has traditions and aims to connect science, education, economy and business with the local government. The memorandum updates the cooperation agreement signed in 2019, given the priorities laid down in the strategic documents for the development of the Municipality of Ruse for the period after 2021.
The document envisages joint activity in the field of innovation and environmental protection, as well as in the organization of educational and qualification programs.
BAS undertakes to inform the local administration about scientific achievements, research and results that are relevant to the development of the Municipality of Ruse.
The memorandum was concluded for a period of 5 years.
