Ruse has once again proven to be a city of opportunities and new initiatives. Over the weekend, the first Dragon Boat Festival in the city was held in Lipnik Forest Park, attracting the attention of the local community and visitors. The event brought together 15 teams who participated in the exciting and competitive races, providing unforgettable experiences and emotions for both participants and spectators.
In the 20-member crew category, the mixed team of the Ministry of Interior - Ruse emerged victorious, while in the 10-member crew category, the "Loco Dragons" team took first place. In the large boat competition, the mixed crew of the Regional Directorate "Fire Safety and Civil Protection" and the Ministry of Interior - Ruse finished second, and the "Haskovo Dragons" team won the bronze medals. In the 10-member crew category, the silver medal went to the "Police Dragons" team, while the "Army Dragons" team finished third. A special honorary award was given to the team of Ruse firefighters "Stronger than Fire," who are still battling the aftermath of the fire that broke out yesterday in the area of the former bakery.
The festival not only contributed to expanding the geography of rowing sports in the Ruse Municipality but also highlighted the high quality of life in the city. Deputy Mayor Encho Enchev, who along with Deputy Mayors Dimitar Nedev and Borislav Rachev awarded the best teams, expressed special thanks to the co-organizers of the event, the "Dragon Boats" Association, and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China for their assistance. "Dragon boats bring a lot of positivity and teamwork to the participants, and the spectators experienced many positive emotions, which I'm sure will motivate many new members to join our rowing clubs," he said.
On the second day of the festival, the audience enjoyed performances by the "Impulse" Dance Ensemble from the Municipal Youth Center, the "Zdravets" Folklore Dance Ensemble from the Municipal Children's Center for Culture and Arts, and the "Sun" Vocal Group from the Municipal Children's Center for Culture and Arts. Additionally, visitors had the opportunity to purchase handmade items from the craft workshops and taste the delicious food and beverages offered on site.
