09.03.2023

Good practices from the Austrian dual training model were presented in Ruse

Mayor Pencho Milkov met today with Philip Kupfer, the trade counselor at the Austrian Embassy in our country. The development of commercial relations between Rousse and the members of the Chamber of Commerce of Austria was discussed.

"Ruse is the ideal place to launch pilot projects, especially those in the educational field. This is the city where robotics was first introduced for all third-graders in the municipality," said the mayor.

He highlighted the advantages of dual education, which has been successfully practiced in Bulgaria for the eighth year. According to him, it gives motivation and abilities to young people, which Ruse needs.

Deputy mayors Zlatomira Stefanova and Encho Enchev, project manager Sofia Damyanova and economic expert Valeri Andreev were also present at the meeting.

The regional meeting "Business for Education" took place in the Revenue Building, during which good practices from the dual form of education in Austria were presented. The forum is organized under the project "Dual training in Bulgaria" / GODUAL under the Austrian Chamber of Commerce/AdvantageAustria, with the Municipality of Ruse and the Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry being the main partners of the event.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor Encho Enchev, the Trade Counselor at the Austrian Embassy Philip Kupfer, the project manager Sofia Damyanova, the expert at the Ministry of Education and Science Polina Zlatarska, the head of the Ruse Regional Education and Training Center Dr. Rositsa Georgieva, as well as representatives of the educational institutions and Ruse companies that have successfully applied the dual training model.

"With the dialogue we are carrying out today, we will find the right direction to go together - institutions and business, so that the model can give young people a chance to develop professionally in their hometown," said the deputy mayor.

Encho Enchev thanked the organizers of the event for their help in establishing partnerships between vocational high schools and businesses.

The development of the project since its launch in 2015 in Bulgaria was presented. The beginning was given in only three cities and 52 students took part in it. At the moment, in 21 settlements of the country, dual training is carried out in companies from the Austrian GODUAL project.

The dual system is a form of education in secondary education, with which practical experience is also accumulated. It includes vocational training, which takes place in parallel in two places - in a vocational school and in an enterprise. Dual education is implemented in countries such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, China, etc. Wherever the system works effectively, there are persistently low levels of youth unemployment. The occupations in which students can be trained through the dual system are determined by law in each country.

In the municipality of Ruse, this system is practiced in several vocational high schools - PGDVA "Yosif Vondrak" / specializations in furniture production and printing/, PGIU "Elias Kaneti" / specialization in trade/, PG in transport / specialization in automotive mechatronics/, PGSAG "Peño Penev" / specialties architectural restoration, geodesy, real estate, water and transport construction, PGRKK / specialty river shipping/, PGMT "Yuri Gagarin" / specialties electric vehicles and thermal engineering - heat, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration/, PHPT "Atanas Ts. Burov" /majors CNC machines and systems, mechatronics, measuring and organizational equipment/, PGO "Nedka Ivan Lazarova" /majors construction, modeling and technology of textile clothing, production of textile clothing, organization and technology of hairdressing services/.
