The construction of a photovoltaic system on the roof of the "Rusalka" KG has begun

Replacement of a large part of the lighting fixtures in Ruse and introduction of an Information System for planning, monitoring and control of electricity costs for street lighting are the main goals of a project implemented by the Municipality of Ruse. Among them is the construction of two photovoltaic systems for the production of electricity for own needs - on the roofs of the "Rusalka" KG and the "Vazrazhdane" Old People's Home, and the construction site in the kindergarten has already been started.

This became clear at the introductory conference on the project "Implementation of energy efficiency measures for the external artificial lighting system on the territory of the city of Ruse, Ruse Municipality". It is financed under the Program "Renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy security" of the Financial Mechanism of the EEA 2014-2021 and also includes the construction of a local system for automatic management of three boulevards - "Hristo Botev", "Vasil Levski" and "Gotse Delchev" ".

The introductory press conference, which took place within two days, was opened in the conference hall of the "Dunav" building by the Deputy Mayor of Ruse Municipality Zlatomira Stefanova. She emphasized the importance of the project, which is part of the planned activities of the local administration, related to the implementation of measures to increase energy efficiency in the territory of the city and the municipality.

According to the head of the project - Deputy Mayor Magdalina Ilieva, after replacing the street lighting with energy-efficient lamps, nearly 112,000 euros will be saved annually. The replacement will cover the following areas: the neighborhoods Druzhba-1, Druzhba-2, Druzhba-3, Charodeyka-North, Charodeyka-South and the main streets - Hristo Botev Blvd., Blvd. Gotse Delchev", "Vasil Levski" Blvd., "Bulgaria" Blvd., "Lipnik" Blvd., "Pliska" St., "Naum" St., "Dorostol" St. and "Tutrakan" Blvd.

The project has a value of BGN 1,541,364, of which non-grant financial assistance - BGN 783,289 and own contribution in the amount of BGN 758,075, and it envisages a reduction of carbon emissions by 1,400 tons.

The press conference was also attended by business representatives, interested parties, as well as the contractor under the contract for the construction of the photovoltaic systems. The agenda also included a presentation of the "Rousse - low-carbon city" project, which is financed by the "European City Facility - EUCF" and the European Union's "Horizon 2020" research and innovation program. The director of "Municipal Transport-Ruse", Alexander Georgiev, took part in the talks, who presented the new goals and challenges for the company, related to achieving energy efficiency in urban transport.

The meeting ended with a visit to the University of Ruse, where at a round table the participants and partners learned about the students' work in the field of energy efficiency in urban and personal transport. During the talks, good practices of the Faculty of Transport and the Faculty of "Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation" in the field of energy efficiency and renewable sources were shared.

The final phase of the introductory conference on the second day included the opening of the construction site related to the construction of the photovoltaic system for electricity generation on the roof of the Rusalka KG. Projects related to replaced street lighting on Tsar Osvoboditel, Pridunavski, Third March, etc. boulevards were presented to the partners and implemented in the past.
