"I am proud that our city is distinguished by a very wide palette of economic activities, from agriculture, through light and heavy industry, to high-tech services of the new age," Mayor Pencho Milkov welcomed the guests.

"Great Britain is creative, dynamic and friendly to Bulgarian business. We have a great desire to work with you on the economy of the future – cleaner, greener and digitized. We are ready to offer ideas and partnerships for you", the Ambassador H.E. addressed the attendees. Rob Dixon.

He pointed out that at the moment Great Britain is the fifth largest investor in Bulgaria and he would like to rise even higher in the ranking.

Ruse business was represented by companies from the forwarding, fashion and transport industries, manufacturers of industrial goods, as well as those involved in the development of applications.

Some of them shared their desire to create new or resume ties with Great Britain after Brexit and the global health crisis. Others stated that they would be happy to benefit from English know-how and highly qualified personnel to develop their activities.

According to data presented by the ambassador, over 300,000 Bulgarians live in Great Britain, and 15,000 Britons have chosen our country as their home. Dixon also shared that the number of Bulgarian students on the Island is 6,000, and the British students in Bulgaria are 3,500, which is a reason for the development of even closer cooperation between the universities of the two countries.
