In March, intensive construction work on the Ruse–Veliko Tarnovo highway is expected to begin, according to Ruse Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov’s announcement last week. The large-scale project, which officially commenced at the end of 2023, is pivotal for the region, promising to stimulate economic development and improve conditions for investments and business.
The Ruse–Veliko Tarnovo highway will strategically connect key cities in Northern Bulgaria, ensuring a fast and safe transportation link. This project is critical for business and trade as it facilitates access to major transport corridors and optimizes logistics in the region. The route serves as a vital connection between Northeast European countries via Romania and Bulgaria to Greece and Turkey, as well as between the Baltic and Mediterranean seas. It is expected to improve transportation for both international and domestic traffic, enhance road safety, and divert transit traffic away from populated areas.
The planned route of the Ruse–Veliko Tarnovo highway spans 132.84 kilometers and forms part of Bulgaria’s core trans-European transport network.
The implementation of this infrastructure project is set to deliver significant advantages for both local and international investors:
The Ruse–Veliko Tarnovo highway is just one part of a long-term vision to improve infrastructure in the region. By modernizing the transport network, Ruse is solidifying its position as an economic hub with the potential to attract substantial investments and expand its presence on the international business stage.
