New prospects for business partnerships, technology exchange and joint initiatives between Ruse and Chinese companies were discussed during the China–Bulgaria Industrial Partnership Meeting 2026, held on 23 September in Sofia.

The forum brought together representatives of institutions, businesses and industry organisations from Bulgaria and China, along with six companies from China's Hebei Province specialising in photovoltaic technologies, energy storage systems, power engineering, charging infrastructure, advanced materials and industrial technologies.

Ruse Mayor Pencho Milkov attended the event at the invitation of the Chinese side and presented the city's economic and investment potential, its industrial traditions, strategic location on the Danube River and opportunities for developing high-value-added manufacturing.

New Business Contacts with Chinese Industrial Companies

The participating companies included JA Solar Technology Co., Ltd., SICON Chat Union Electric Co., Ltd., Hebei Jinzhuyou Plastic Technology Co., Ltd., Sunfly Holdings Co., Ltd., Cangzhou Qizhi Electric Power Technology Co., Ltd. and Hebei Yaoxun New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.

These companies operate in sectors that play an important role in modern industry and the energy transition. Their participation in the forum provided opportunities to establish direct business contacts and explore potential areas for technological and investment cooperation.

Ruse offers an established industrial base, well-developed transport and logistics infrastructure, and strategic proximity to the Romanian market. These advantages, combined with access to skilled professionals and academic expertise, provide favourable conditions for international business partnerships.

Memorandum of Cooperation with the Chinese City of Cangzhou

During the forum, a Memorandum of Understanding on Friendly Cooperation between Ruse and Cangzhou was signed, expressing mutual interest in developing partnerships in areas including economy, trade, education, culture, tourism, youth activities and sports.

Cangzhou is an important industrial and logistics centre in Hebei Province and hosts the China–Central and Eastern European Countries SME Cooperation Zone.

This platform provides opportunities to develop economic contacts, exchange information and establish partnerships between companies from China and Central and Eastern European countries.

The memorandum establishes a framework for further discussions and exploring potential joint initiatives, while the specific terms of future projects will be subject to separate agreements.

Education, Technology and High-Value-Added Industry

An important part of Ruse's presentation was the role of “Angel Kanchev” University of Ruse in developing skilled professionals, supporting scientific research and promoting international technological exchange.

Cooperation between businesses, universities and young professionals was highlighted as an opportunity to foster innovation, share expertise and introduce new technologies.

Mayor Pencho Milkov invited the representatives of the Chinese delegation to visit Ruse and gain first-hand insight into local enterprises, industrial infrastructure, the academic environment and investment opportunities.

Representatives of the Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry also attended the forum, including Executive Director Milen Dobrev and Eng. Valeri Andreev.

Developing partnerships with international industrial and technology companies is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen Ruse's position as a competitive investment destination, offering opportunities for advanced manufacturing, innovation and access to European markets.
